BE ART!
Summer Creative Art Camps 2008

Summer Creative Art Camps can represent one of the best investments you can make in your child's summer. New things are an exciting discovery at a young age, and children are natural explorers.

Art Camp for Kids

This summer's programs will introduce a wide variety of artistic mediums. At Old River Art's camps, working at an individual pace keeps art making a creative fun time for everyone! Every year, we grow our program to include more and better experiences for our campers, keeping it new and exciting time and time again!

Weekly art camps run from June 23 to August 22. Throughout these weeks of creative art making we will have an introduction to art and artistic mediums, using different mediums to educate on a wide range of art topics. Creativity and talent will be developed through exercises designed to stimulate your child's mind, in an atmosphere that is fun and safe. [Also see our complete year long schedule of programs]

Flexible Day Camp
We offer half and full day options with minimal overlap to keep full day campers actively engaged.

Half day: 9-noon

All day: 9-3 pm

Your camper will enjoy learning the arts, while you rest easy knowing that your child will be under constant supervision and at no time will your child be left unattended. Our charming Old River Art studio includes areas dedicated to wheel pottery and muddy clay work, plenty of painting, hand building and sculpture, glass arts, fabrics, mosaic and more. The porch area and front shade trees allow for extra quiet spots when desired.

The emphasis of each week's program is centered on a theme, three-dimensional art, and making something from nothing. In the end, artists and friends may gain a great experience and a further appreciation of the arts. The creative adventures are endless! Get ready to explore visual art in a variety of ways, through collage, installation art, abstract imagery, representational/realistic subject matter, impressionistic/surrealistic techniques and more! These programs are a chance for creative thinking youth to discover their own special, unique and imaginative style in the art realm, while being guided by a professional art instructor. Art campers will collaborate on preparing an end of the week presentation of the 'stuff.' Experiment with media, such as acrylic, pastels, clay, spray paint, ink, marker and pencil, with the goal of reaching personal artistic success culminating in a final group gallery exhibit.

Each morning begins with a welcoming activity, (a short, creative or preparatory exercise), planned and structured art activities and instruction periods. The day includes supervised outdoor breaks, and a farewell activity.
